The Significance of Now
Namaste’! (God in me honors God in you).
I agree with Neale Donald Walsch (distinguished author of his book series, “Conversations With God” and associated publications) that this one word, the truth of which, when realized by every individual on the planet, will destroy the illusion of superiority and every form of discord we experience.
The reasons I agree with Neale are:
First -- because my personal experience substantiates it as truth.
Secondly -- it seems obvious to me that the Law which governs my own experience is the same Law which governs the experience of all others.
Now, because I have personally experienced the truth of this statement, I know a way that I can be free of any and all discord and be in what I consider to be Heaven any time I choose. I am also aware that this same Power is available to every other individual and I notice that those who make the wise choice to use the Power in this way are also experiencing Heaven on earth; and their testimony and witness to this truth seems to exceed their ability to fully express the infinite and limitless Joy, Love, Glory and Gratitude they feel and enjoy. At least, this describes my own situation -- there is no way I feel capable of expressing to you the full extent of the peace, freedom and pure potential I am experiencing in this moment; and I believe if I would meet the full measure of doing so, I would succeed in sharing with you a tool you could and would use, right here, right now, in this present moment, and in each and every next, new, now that you exist in.
Now, despite my own personal sense of limitation in respect to my ability to express and share the truth of these words I speak, I have a belief that this God in me speaking to this same God in you, is this very truth of which I speak, and It is the Power which knows Itself and is now using my words as a reminder to you of who you really are (It) and that all others are also Really It as well, and I am grateful It uses me to express and recognize Itself through me and in you.
Now having said all that, I arrive at the point of consideration for the topic I came to speak to you about: the significance of now.
Let’s take that phrase apart so we can more fully be in clarity about that which we are looking at.
First, I am using the word, “significance”; by which I mean importance and meaning.
Secondly, I use the word “of”; by which I mean there is a connection between the words on either side of it.
And lastly, I use the word “now”; by which I mean this present moment.
I notice that this phrase is a combination of two ideas: one objective, the other subjective. The “now”, is objective: a fact; self evident; and readily agreed with and accepted by all individuals everywhere and in all times. It is a Reality that exists beyond the need for any individual’s recognition or acknowledgment of It. It is just so! It is what is and It is by virtue of its own Power and Nature and It is Itself independent of anything else. It needs no recognition from any individual and no individual’s concept of It has even an iota of a possibility of changing what It Is as It, by Its very Nature, is Changeless and It is the only Thing Which Is! In this sense, this Thing is Ultimate Reality, Pure Potential, Infinite Being, Is-ness, Permanent Being, All That Is, The Only Changeless Thing, which I call God. Accordingly, by definition, It is All and thus, being the All, It is the Only Thing to be experienced as well as the Only Thing to experience.
So what I see here in this these concepts, is a truth that there is Only One Thing, Which is expressing Itself everywhere at all times, in and through everything I perceive. So all that I perceive is what I call my individual experience of this One Thing, Which is all there is and thus the only thing there is to experience. As this One Thing is an Infinite Being and there is nothing outside of It; It naturally expresses Itself in countless ways and each of us is but one of the countless ways through and by which this this Limitless Intelligence knows Itself. So I see that It knows Itself through and by Its movement In and through all the individual states of Consciousness which compose and express Its Being.
These thoughts then bring us to the subjective portion: the “significance” word in our phrase, “ the significance of now“. This is the part of the concept which is subjective, individual, changeable, and temporary. It is, by its nature, personal to each Individual and it is one’s interpretation and viewpoint of the One Thing, the Now. This significance, meaning, importance is equal to and is that which an individual says the Thing is: what the Changeless, Ever- present Thing is. It is the meaning which the individual chooses to give to The Thing. It is not The Thing Itself; but rather, it is one individual’s idea of the One Thing. Now, because each individual is unique, each individual has a concept of This Thing which in some way is personal and different from the concept of any other individual’s concept. This is to say, that because of the fact of individuality, no two people view the Ultimate Reality, The One Thing, The Now, God in the exact same way. That is to say that each one of us chooses what meaning we give to This Now. What is important here is to realize that this meaning that we have of this thing is a personal concept of This Thing and is not The Thing Itself and in no way affects This Thing; which is above and beyond any individual’s concept of It. It is what It is by Its Nature, and is therefore independent of any individual interpretation or concept of It. It is in Essence, What It Is regardless of any individual concept of It.
So now I’m in a state of Consciousness where I am in realization of the truth that there is a Thing and that I and every other individual have a concept of This One Thing and that inherent within all of this is something I can use which I have found demonstrates Itself in my experience as feelings of Wholeness, Connectedness, Oneness, Peace, Joy, Happiness, Love and Heaven. And, my fellow loving individual expressions of This One Spirit, I am most grateful in feeling and saying Namaste’ and thanks for looking at the significance of Now with me.
